An Alias item that provides a way to create aliases quickly in your favorite locations is available for List and Info window toolbars.

To create an alias in a folder without adding it to the Alias toolbar item’s menu, click the Alias item and choose a location from the dialog that opens.

To create an alias in a folder and add that folder to the Alias toolbar item’s menu, click the toolbar item and wait briefly until the menu opens. Choose the Make Alias In command and select a folder from the dialog that opens. An alias will be created in that folder and the folder will be added to the menu.
